Education & Surgical Training
Dr. Thompson’s journey into oral surgery began at the United States Naval Academy, followed by dental training at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. His desire to specialize led him to a rigorous four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Shands Hospital, where he also trained with the UF Center for Implant Dentistry and served on the craniofacial team.
Throughout residency, he earned multiple accolades—including the Award for Oral Surgical Excellence—and developed clinical expertise in areas such as trauma, implantology, and craniofacial deformities.
He is proud to be:
- Board-Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
- A Diplomate of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology
- A member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the Florida Association of Oral Surgery
- A past president of the North Palm Beach Dental Society
- A lecturer and published author on topics including mandibular tumor management and reconstructive surgery
A Philosophy of Lifelong Growth & Precision Care
Dr. Thompson originally dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot—but when eyesight grounded that goal, he redirected his energy to healthcare. That same passion for excellence now fuels his surgical practice, where he combines technical precision with a deep sense of compassion for each patient.
From wisdom teeth removal to implant salvage, Dr. Thompson’s treatment plans are fully personalized. He works closely with referring dentists to ensure seamless coordination and outstanding long-term results.

A Life Beyond the Operating Room
Outside the clinic, Dr. Thompson lives life to the fullest alongside his wife, Sarah, and their three children—Nik, Kit, and Pip. His diverse interests reflect his high-energy personality and commitment to service:
- Competitive spearfishing and offshore tournaments in the Keys and Bahamas
- Coaching youth sports and staying fit in his custom-built home gym
- Woodworking, including building cabinetry and furniture
- BBQ smoking and home cooking
- Supporting veterans’ charities, including fundraising walks across Greece with Navy SEALs and wounded warriors
Fun fact? Dr. Thompson was once a professional bobsledder, representing the U.S. in the America’s Cup and later coaching Team Australia in the 2014 Winter Olympics. He still competes at the master’s level and has also been a semi-pro football player, lacrosse standout, and triathlete.
